The Mason Family
While we will get to the two directly running KwikRink shortly, it would be an error to not start by providing some information on the Mason Family, as KwikRinks successes are certainly built by the family as a whole.
The Masons were a hockey family from the start and reside in the “State of Hockey” (MN). From early morning practices to out-of-town tournaments between three youth hockey players, chances are you would find the family at the rink at any given time in the 1990’s & 2000’s.
Fast forward to today, and many of the family members have their fingerprints all over the trajectory that KwikRink has taken as a business! From countless sacrifices to helping any way they can, the Masons have their blood sweat and tears into the company.
Don Mason, President/Owner/Founder
Don Mason started KwikRink back in 1996. At the time, he was working in the plastics industry and built the idea while using similar material for truck liners in shipping. With his job at that time along with his passion for hockey and coaching his kids, Don took the leap and went headfirst into entrepreneurism.
KwikRink quickly became a family affair in the Mason household as Dons sons were always the first guinea pigs to try out new skating formulas. Through years and years of trial and error, Don finally tuned in the perfect balance of feel and glide – a tough feat considering the quality offered across the market.
Don currently oversees the business and finances, while also working on other projects within the plastics industry. He currently resides between MN and FL with his wife of nearly 30 years.
Brett Mason, Operations Executive
Now in his 30’s, the first son to Don has taken over daily operations – keeping the family business in-house. Brett played hockey throughout his life and was a natural test dummy for his dad’s latest skating formulas and was quick to give his father the thumbs up – or down if he thought the skating “sucked”. Fast forward to today and Brett gives a big thumbs up!
Brett brings a lifetime of hockey passion along with a background in marketing and sales to his KwikRink resume. He currently resides in the Twin Cities metro area (MN) with his wife and two young children (soon-to-be hockey players).
